Denver
Beautiful, bustling Denver is Colorado’s capital and the state’s largest city, with approximately 715,000 residents. The Mile-High City boasts a thriving urban sensibility and rich cultural offerings set against a backdrop of coveted Rocky Mountain outdoor space and an exceptional climate. Add to that top-rated schools, over 200 parks and excellent community amenities, and it makes sense that Denver has racked up several accolades over the years, including multiple appearances on healthiest and fittest cities lists and being named The Best Place to Live by U.S. News & World Report in 2016. The city of Denver’s roots are deeply connected to the country’s Gold Rush era. In 1858, a group of prospectors established a mining town in what was then western Kansas Territory. The town was eventually named Denver in a failed attempt to gain favor with the Territory’s governor, James W. Denver, who had already resigned from his role. The frontier town first catered to miners with saloons and goods for trading. After the railroad arrived in 1870, Denver flourished, attracting well-heeled residents and a wealth of amenities, from opera houses to deluxe hotels. Today, Denver is home to five Fortune 500 companies, including DCP Midstream, DaVita and Ovintiv. Not surprisingly, this large, diverse city offers an extensive range of homes. Here, you’ll find multimillion-dollar historic mansions and new-construction modern masterpieces. Condominiums range from palatial high-rise homes to industrial loft residences. Handsome townhouses, single-family homes and apartments round out the local housing stock. What to Do & See:
